Castle Hill Primary School

Welcome

Welcome to the Castle Hill Primary School website. We are a friendly school that serves the children of Todmorden, from nursery to year six and we have our own wraparound care that opens at 7 am and closes at 5:30pm!

I was fortunate to become Headteacher at Castle Hill in January 2024. It is a real pleasure to work here. The school has a wonderful ethos which comes from the way our children and staff relate to each other and our parents who support us very well. It is a wonderful place to be the headteacher!

The school is situated in Todmorden, a friendly town on the border of West Yorkshire and Lancashire, which is nestled in the Pennine countryside. It is a real asset to the school, and we use it where we can, including our annual hike to the pike!

The old school is gone now, sad after it served the community since 1912, but it had reached the end of it’s life. We are incredibly lucky to be in a temporary school in Centre Vale Park, a super spot for our children. If everything goes to plan, we will be back at the old site in a fantastic new building in November 2026.

Our Ethos is one which supports all our children to reach their potential. We want our school to be a special place at the heart of our community. Our last Ofsted recognised this, and the school is graded good.

We have five simple rules they are:

  • Be safe.
  • Be respectful.
  • Be ready.
  • Be honest.
  • And, most importantly, be kind.

We aim to meet these in our day-to-day work with your children and through our teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum. We try to give children experiences which will stay with them for the rest of their lives and work with the rest of our curriculum to allow every child to feel fully supported by our team and to thrive.

We are an open school, so please have a look at the website to get a flavour of what we do. Please visit if you are looking for place or interested in your child starting in nursery or reception. If you wish to discuss anything regarding your children, I will do my best to see you as soon as possible to help.
